Educational Topic: “Chapter of the Future” (CoF) & GBTA Academy

     Presenter: Doug Payne – Senior VP – Corporate Sales ALTOUR/GBTA Board Member

Doug Payne is Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales for ALTOUR, the 12th largest Travel Management Company in the nation with over $1.3B in sales. Doug began his career with Northwest Airlines and over his 29 year career in the travel industry served in management positions not only at Northwest Airlines but Worldspan, LP as well.  A graduate of The Ohio State University, Doug earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Graduate Degrees in Public Administration and City and Regional Planning.  A believer in “life-long” learning, Doug also earned his Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) from theUniversity ofHouston as well as the Global Leadership Program (GLP) designation from theUniversity ofPennsylvania – Wharton School of Business.  Doug was awarded the Business Travel Professional Service award in 2004 and in 2007.Active in NBTA and now GBTA for 20 years, Doug has served as President of The Ohio Valley Business Travel Association (OVBTA) twice and currently serves as an Allied Board Member of GBTA. Doug and his wife Janet live inLouisville,KY and is most proud of his three beautiful teenage daughters, Kristen, Laruen and LeeAnn and his dog, Brutus.

       Presenter:  Patty G. Higginbotham – GBTA

Patty joined the GBTA in late February as Vice President, Government Relations and General Counsel.  She comes to GBTA with considerable industry experience, with 13 years at Airlines forAmerica(formerly the Air Transport Association), the trade association for theU.S.airlines, as Vice President, Policy and Chief of Staff.  Before joining ATA, Patty worked for Federal Express at itsMemphisheadquarters and as a prosecutor inAtlanta. 

        Presenter: Aaron L. Witt - Chief CBP Officer Tactical Operations                                         Detroit Metropolitan Airport U.S. Customs and Border Protection

Chief Aaron Witt serves as the Second-Line Supervisor over Tactical Operations, Emergency Preparedness, and Global Entry for U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Prior to his promotion to Chief CBP Officer, Chief Witt served as the supervisor over the Counter Terrorism Response Rover Team (CTRRT) and the CBP Officer Enforcement Team at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.  Chief Witt joined Customs and Border Protection in 2003 and has worked in both the land border and airport environments. Chief Witt has also attended various CBP training courses in various locations such as: New York, Miami, Georgia, and West Virginia. Preceding his employment with CBP, Chief Witt worked as a Corrections Officer at a Maximum Security Prison.
